菜园子 means “vegetable garden”. Our kitchen cooks the everyday dishes of Hunan — the food families in Changsha eat at home: green chili stir-fried with pork, slow-braised claypots, chopped-chili fish head and bowls of sweet, crisp greens.
Hunan cooking is bold and fragrant. Fresh and pickled chilies, garlic and smoky wok heat bring out the natural taste of each ingredient, and every dish is made to be shared with a bowl of steamed rice.
